Last week, I was free from work and everything else to spent time with my family to go to Kendal Calling. Photos of the Event: I was a good week off, to go there to see some of the events, shows, food and drinks. My family and I definitely dressing up towards the end, but what I was really happy about was seeing the artwork I was asked last year... Final Tapestry Design: As soon as I saw my artwork, I notice a slight change in adjustments and composition yet I am happy to see on display with all the spare I could from everything else and I hope to see it again next year and the year after, and so on..., because this is one of the best work I've done.

I was final able to get Jamie make his final decision on which idea he likes best for his movie tapestry designs for Kendal Calling. When the decision was made I got straight to work on some developments and this time, I've added in some colour this time. After each drawing that I've done I checked with Jamie to ask if there were any changes in words, composition or colour needs. First developments: Poseidon- No changes needed except one or two shades of blue to make the composition of the drawing a little brighter and clearer to see the design and the writing. Muppet Treasure Island- No changes needed for this drawing. 2,000 Leagues Under the Sea- Jamie says the writing should say, "Kendal Calling should join Captain Nemo's crew and explore, the wonders of life under the sea". Mamma Mia- No changes needed for this drawing. The Meg- For the writing at the bottom of the drawing, Jamie says instead of putting the word "And," it should just say "I'm gonna make this thing Bleed!" 300: Rise of the Empire- No changes needed for this drawing. SpongeBob Squarepants: The Movie- No changes needed for this drawing. Jaws 2- No changes needed for this drawing. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl- Jamie says the writing should say, "SS Kendal Calling must help the pirates fight against... !The Black Pearl!" With these drawings looked through and the changes suggested to Jamie, I get on the final developments before I get to work on the final designs. But as I was going through next set I may have made slight changes in the them. Final Developments: Poseidon- No Changes for this drawing. Muppet Treasure Island- For the writing at the bottom of the drawing, instead of putting the word "Join," twice I put in "You can join... Miss Piggy's tribe or John Silver's crew?!" 2,000 Leagues Under the Sea- I accidentally forgot to put in a for "captain", in the writing, but that is a lesson learned. Mamma Mia- No changes needed for the drawing. The Meg- No changes needed for this drawing. 300: Rise of the Empire- I accidentally to put in "Against" with the writing on top of the drawing, that way it would have said, "All of Greece has united against the... !!!Persian Army!!!" Another lesson learned. SpongeBob SquarePants: The Movie- No changes needed for this drawing. Jaws 2- No changes needed for this drawing. Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl- No changes needed for this drawing.
With these final developments, I double-checked with Jamie one last time if there were still any changes needed for the final drawings, yet so far he was happy to see the progress I made and no changes were needed so I got work on finishing the task before the end of May. The other week I was feeling able to meet-up with Jamie in Arnside after work and in a anxious and desperate set (because I haven't got any answers from and I really busy with work), I was finally able to get some answers from each movie, on 2 out of 4 are the best ideas he likes and immediately got started on them. First Movie Ideas: Second Movie Ideas: This week I will be getting to meet with Jamie, where he has to make a decision from each movie, which one he'll like for the final tapestry design for this year's Kendal Calling.
While waiting to either meet with Jamie or get a phone call from, I went to meet with his brother Andy. I went to meet him at his home in Arnside and final handed in the final drawing of tapestry designs of Kendal Calling, both space theme and the previous years 2019, 2022 and 2023.
As he was looking through each drawing I've done, he was amazed at how much effort and spare-time I made to get them drawn. What he has told is that the drawings in the previous year (2019, 2022 and 2023) will soon be on display for this year. The space theme drawings will be on display years later, because we have discussed it before when I showed him the developments before drawing the final set, which is fine, I look forward to see them on display as soon as possible. And I definitely am looking to see the drawings of the previous years on display for this year's Kendal Calling. Think got a little more challenging for me to with, as soon as I was finished with drawings both the space theme for this year and the design for the previous years for Andy Smith, I immediately got started on working on some new tapestry designs for his brother, Jamie. This time, it's a movie sea theme. Every year at Kendal Calling from every theme event there is always a big tent where people (both men, women and children) can go and watch a movie and in that event there'll always be rota or timesheet on what's on: It was a little difficult to watch any of them that are of sea world back at home, because the wi-fi is cut and me and my parents can't do much about it until it is sorted. So with some that I'm familiar with because I watch them loads of times and others not so much, I had videos clips on YouTube or if they're able watch them on Netflix and one movie to the other create some rough ideas each set as a Kendal Calling design... Rough Idea designs: Photos in Progress:Kendal Calling 2019- Kendal Calling 2022: part 1- Kendal Calling 2022: part 2- Kendal Calling 2023- Final Drawings of Kendal Calling: 2019, 2022 and 2023- Photos of Progress:Space Theme Drawing 1- Space Theme Drawing 2- Space Theme Drawing 3- Space Theme Drawing 4- Space Theme Drawing 5- Space Theme Drawing 6- Space Theme final Drawings: A lot has been going on this month, as soon as I was finished drawing the final developments for this year's Kendal Calling (Space Theme) I got to work on what other designs Andy wants me to do and shows me what's what... Ideas set- 2019, 2022 part 1 and 2, and 2023: From looking at the pictures and a lot of research of some of the most famous celebrities and events, I get to work with these ideas. Rough Ideas: First Ideas: When I next met up with Andy and his brother Jamie in the pub and showed them my progress. So far He likes what I've achieved, however would like to make a small change of the last idea with all the local celebrities, he would like me replace Paddy Considine to Melanie C (a member of the Spice Girls). First Developments: Further Developments (both in black and white and in colour) : Final Developments: Before I started on the final drawings along with space theme designs, I email the work to Andy as final check if he wanted me to make changes before, draw them again in plain A3 paper.
Again so far no changes need in the design, only remove or add in few word in the second idea with the tiger. The top of the picture to remove "call...", therefore it says "Forgetting to set its morning alarm," and then in the bottom add in "+ Desert island Disco" next "Animal Kingdom". So that's what I'll doing as the final drawing for Kendal Calling. Last week, I was finally able to speak to Andy Smith about the last design I did for next year's Kendal Calling. So far He like the Ideas that I've made told I was heading in the Right Direction, but I don't need to put any colour in them he has someone else to do that. So before I could talk to me about some new changes or new ideas, I already got started on working on some final developments this time without any colour. Final Developments: As soon as I was finished with these designs, I send them straight to Andy on email and he was impressed of what I design. The designs show a lot of detail some tiny quotes placed across the design and half the work has got a disco ball to show that it's actually a party going on here.
This is something that will go well for next year's space theme for Kendal Calling, but will be displayed around 2035. I was quite Surprised to hear that, because now he wants me to do something different. For nearly two decades both Andy and his brother Jamie have been displaying tapestries after year theme before the next one for 2006 till today, right now he likes me to design fill missing pieces from 2019, 2022 and this year 2023. He has already given enough info on what and how to do them, so it is up to me and designing them. At the same time, Jamie has asked me to design a water or ocean theme for next year and has given a list of the movies and tv documents as an example. I be taking a short to think about how to do this these and then I'll be splitting my time on working on new tapestry designs for both Andy and Jamie. |
